I grew up in Sacramento, CA. I moved to Portland in 2003 and helped to found
The Village Free School, now a 5-year-old community that stands passionately
for holistic, empowering education for kids and youth of all ages. From 05-08,
I served on the Staff at VFS and acted as Ombudsperson, an aid in resolving
community conflict.
My work with counseling and consciousness are derived from life experience,
self-study and intuition. I have not studied these things at any school, but
instead have continually explored, in my own life and the lives of others, the
realities and experiences of human existence. Inquiring into the deep (and sometimes dark) places that lead to liberation, healing and empowerment is a natural process for me and I am honored to share it with others.
Some favorite books, in no particular order: Stone Junction, Little Benny's Book, Living In Ether, Lucid Dreaming,
any Get Fuzzy stuff, The B.F.G, 1984, The Secret Garden and Who Are You Calling Grandma? I'm in love with music and have played it since I was young. I teach the drum set and direct a no-tryout, all-ages chorus called Free Choir, which sings obscure yet extremely catchy pop songs and raises $$ to support The Village Free School. I live in NE Portland.
