I aim always to create a space in which you will feel safe, supported and unconditionally accepted as we explore your self and your life. Sessions are completely confidential.
My work is both cognitive and experiential. I utilize not only talk therapy and cognitive understanding to create change and healing, but also engage the physical, emotional and energetic systems. Sometimes, changing a negative or disharmonious pattern in our lives really is just a matter of understanding the origin of that pattern and making a change in our behavior. Very often, however, these patterns are set a bit deeper within us, in our physical, emotional and energetic systems. This is why people often have trouble making changes in their lives even when they understand the origins of a pattern and "know what they need to do" in order to change it. Making such changes requires a deeper contact with and understanding of the self.
The first few sessions are usually conversational, so that I can get a general picture of your where you are at as well as a clear sense of what you are currently wanting to work on. As time goes on, sessions may also consist of mindful self-awareness, working with emotional states or emotional expression, physical movement (to open up your body's energy system), or some combination of these, depending on what seems to be needed in the moment. I often encourage clients to bring up and be conscious of their feeling states - how their thoughts, emotions, etc. actually feel in the body. This is very often a wonderful gateway to being truly connected with the self. When appropriate for the situation and comfortable for the client, I may also use touch or physical contact as a part of the therapy.
